CHRISTIANITY & LEADERSHIP

Our vision for leadership development is deeply rooted in Christian values and community empowerment. We believe that by raising leaders of integrity and credibility, we can help address the systemic issues that have historically challenged Sierra Leone.

CORE LEADERSHIP INITIATIVES:

The establishment of a leadership training and mentoring program alongside Bible courses will serve as a foundation for our leadership development program, creating partnerships that enable:

  • Exchange programs between Australia and Sierra Leone
  • Mentorship opportunities for young leaders
  • Cross-cultural learning experiences
  • Development of business and leadership skills

Our leadership vision focuses on long-term transformation: Through education and mentoring, we aim to develop future generations who will:

  • Take active roles in tackling poverty
  • Move into government positions
  • Help address corruption, bribery, theft, and greed
  • Create positive change in their communities

PARTNERSHIPS

Gatherings have already begun on the Kamara’s Heart school grounds in Rokel. Bringing together new believers who encountered Jesus through Kamara’s Heart’s food programs during Christmas and Easter.
Already, between 25 to 70 people are attending weekly service and prayer meetings, and the community continues to grow. The congregation is being pastored by Eddie Kamara and is leading regular Friday meetings.

Kamara’s Heart continues to walk alongside new believers who have given their lives to God and want to continue to follow Jesus Christ but also continue to support their social and general wellbeing. There are children and their families, youths and single parents and parents. We continue to support new believers through the challenges of being a new Christian in a remote community with extreme poverty like Rokel. Most of the new believers were Muslims.

Kamara’s Heart partners with Hobart Baptist Church, running a café at their community space every Saturday. Mavis prepares local African snacks, treats, and drinks for sale to raise funds supporting children’s education in Sierra Leone and the Reading Club in Ghana.

The café serves as a community hub where members can access John (2023 Tasmania Australian of the Year) for support and gather as a community, with African drumming and music enhancing the experience.

In 2021, Fahan School Year 12 students organized a fundraiser for Kamara’s Heart, raising and donating $7,200.

Kamara’s Heart welcomes partnerships with organizations and individuals. There’s a place for everyone to connect with our mission. With your support, we can continue to rebuild and empower future generations, creating positive change in your life too.
